    When Morality Leads Governance

It's always interesting that people take up arms when "Church and State" become a little too close for comfort.  Whether it's a law that promotes a religious affiliation or simply agenda being pushed by a niche group of people.

In the South Carolina debate last week, Ron Paul said something that really resonated with me:

When the of a changes...so will the laws

How true it is.  The moral temperature of a country is the single largest predicator of the future laws and legislation.  Ron Paul used the example of abortion.  Even when it was illegal decades ago, it began to become social acceptable...so the laws followed suit.

In present day, Marijuana is illegal...yet is (in many circles) socially acceptable (or at a minimum condoned) and I am sure that the legislation in future years will change to accomodate.

It is scary how the moral compass can dictate the policy and legislation of a country...even when there is a fading calibration of the master compass.  We walk around with the confidence in our device as our guide, not realising that it is losing it's bearings and hasn't face due-north...ever.

    Terence Young Fundraiser

On Tuesday night I had the opportunity to here Jim Flaherty (Minister of Finance) speak at a Terence Young fundraiser.  I have known Terence for as long as I can remember, and applaud his commitment to Oakville and the Conservative Party.  It was my first opportunity to hear Minister Flaherty speak and I was VERY impressed.  In addition to some well-timed humor and strong communication style, it was very evident that he is extremely bright and brings an arsenal of skills to this very demanding position.

Later than night as I was watching to recaps on the Leadership Debate, I stumbled across this site.  Firstly, WHAT A JOKE!  The idea that someone has time to create & maintain something like this is telling of the unemployment rate right now in Canada.  Secondly, why does it matter.  Nothing against Lisa Raitt.  I will vote for her, she's done a great job so far, but honestly, if you're going to waste your time, go for Harper.  notharper.ca is available...I checked.  Better yet...what about the party? notconservative.ca is also available.  Unless...it's a personal vendetta...in which case...this is foolishness...please find a hobby.

I have heard it said: If your thing is that their things sucks...you don't have a thing.  How true it is.

So to the mystery moderator of the web site & twitter account: Get a life. Please.

    It's Election Time

Saw this app: Vote Compass on CBC's website.  They talked about it on the National earlier this week.  Never let it be said that I am not a die-hard conservative!

    Bring it on Iggy...the majority's a com'n!
