So it’s not secret that when you have a baby, you don’t get the sleep that you once did. It’s just a fact…6 hours is amazing…9 hours is not happening…
That said, I am pretty good at not “showing” my need for sleep. Sometimes I might be a little edgy, but usually I don’t show physical signs of being tired.
The last few days people (usually men…usually older that have older children) have been coming up to me saying, “WOW…you look like a wreck.” OR “Dude, I guess you are not sleeping much..?”
All that to say…yes, I am tired. Let me say it again…I AM TIRED…
BUT
Coming up to me and commenting that I basically look like “death itself” does not help the matter. I can’t wait for the day when I’m old and need a self-esteem boost and can go up to some punk-kid new father and trash his looks…oh it’s going down!

One week tomorrow, Hailey and I will drive to the hospital and have our first child. You’d think that “knowing the date” would be kinda cool, but weird….and you would be right. It’s definitely a weird thing as it is difficult to wait, but neat that we know and can plan for our new arrival.
Hailey will be having C-Section @ 7am on Thursday May 21. I would ask you to pray for her, and the baby…that God would keep them both safe. Pray that I don’t faint, and that I can remain calm (I’m such a sissy when it comes to stuff like this…)
Lord willing, in 8 days I will be a dad….YUP-EEE!

It has been a good week or so since last posted, and even longer since I last posted anything of substance.
Stuff has gone from crazy busy (tax season) to really relaxed to crazy busy again. Here’s a quick rundown on what’s been going on…
Well, first off, tax season is over (praise the Lord). I really appreciate the prayers and encouragement from many of you to press on! Once May 1st came, I took a day off, hung out with Hailey, did some yard work, and in general loved coming home @ 6pm rather than 11pm.
This past Thursday we had our final Dr.’s appointment to find out if Hailey needs a C-Section (the baby is full blown frank-breech). So, the C-Section is scheduled for May 21st (roughly 10 days from now)….VERY exciting!
This weekend my whole family and a bunch of friends are coming over for a pre-baby, new-house, my-birthday celebration. It will be good to have everyone together.
Other than that…things are good. The new house is great! Hailey’s “present” for my b-day this year is to set-up a sweet home office. We had a desk and all the essentials, but we went out a bought a cool couch, side table, etc. to make the room a really sweet space.

Tomorrow and Sunday, Hailey and I will be doing a “crash” Prenatal course. It is all-day Saturday and Sunday…fun…
I love my wife. That is why I am going.
I also have a really good attitude about the whole thing.

Today Hailey and I went to get a 3D Ultrasound. It was really cool to see our little girl’s face in more detail AND more developed as the last ultrasound was over a month ago.
Hailey and I are really excited for this kid to come into the world, and are praying that God would continue to hold this young life in His hands. Here are some of the pictures! (click to enlarge)

The other day I was joking with a friend about how nicknames are silly. I remember growing up I always wanted to be “that guy.” You know, the one that EVERYONE called you by your nickname. Like when you were walking down the hall…someone would yell “Hey Dodger!” and everyone else knew that he was yelling at you…
Unfortunately…I was not “that guy.” In an attempt to brand myself, I tried to give myself a nickname, but then people would just make fun of me. No Dice.
SO. I’ve decided that now that I have a kid on the way…maybe I can instill in them a nickname. EXAMPLE. Instead of “dad” of “father” what if I was called “The Law” or “The Big Cheese” maybe even perhaps “D-Diddy.” I’m pretty sure that Hailey wouldn’t go for it. I’m also pretty sure that part of God’s perfect plan in putting a man with a woman is to prevent stuff like this happening.
I’m not saying that I would do it…but well…no, I would do it. I’m glad Hailey is here to stop my maddness.

On May 29, 2009 (Lord Willing), Hailey and I will welcome a baby girl into the world.
