Where Blogging Meeting Bragging

I have noticed that as I am blogging less and simply surfing the internet less due to work and a shifting of priorities, I am having more time to do things that matter in the grander picture.

The past little while (as can be seen in my lack of blogging) I have been wrestling with the question of what the purpose of blogging, at least for me is. The more I read some people’s blogs, the more I ask myself…why the heck are they wasting their time? Nothing is original, everything is ripped from somewhere else…which until recently I thought was a commonly accepted principle, but I think there are still people out there that believe that ‘they are the first person to post a you-tube video on their blog…or have a blog header not provided by “Blogger.”

I find it funny how people can use blogs as a weapon, while at the same time claiming that the sole purpose of the blog is to glorify God…seems a little sketchy to me. I guess I’m just “done with foolish controversy,” and tired of fake people, saying fake things that promote self instead of Christ. I have come to the sobering conclusion that if God calls me to be above reproach…blogging is included.

So what does all this mean…

Well, it means that I am going to be blogging a lot less, and about things that matter. I think that it’s not really a choice, but something that needs to be done.

Back and Busy

Well, Miami was amazing! Great to get away and really spend some quality time with Hailey before the craziness began!

This week was my first official week in the office, and what a better way to start than by having my b-day on monday. This week my head has not stopped spinning, but I’m getting through it. Don’t have a ton else to say, just wanted to write as it’s been a week now…time flies!

Miami-Bound

Tomorrow @ 5am I leave for the Airport. While in Miami, Hailey and I are going to see a Florida Marlins game, hit-up the best restaurant around (The Cheesecake Factory), do some shopping, and of course…hit the beach! Definately looking forward to the time away.

Hailey and I are going to celebrate our first year anniversary. I can’t believe that it has been a year already. The first year of marriage has honestly been amazing. MBC for the summer, my last year of school, the job at Harvest, buying a pool company…it’s been one for the books that’s for sure.

The biggest thing that I keep thinking about as I recall the past year is how FAITHFUL God is. It seems so cliche, but it is SO true. Despite my best efforts to control my situation, offer my opinions and work hard…I still come short, and time and time again, God meets me there. Full of grace, He bridges my shortcomings and heightens my awareness of how Great He Is.

It is my prayer that as I continue to grow as a man, a husband, and one day a father, that my intentions will not get in the way of my actions, and that I will continue to serve faithfully the faithful God that has showered his blessings on my life.

A Great Sunday

As I previously wrote about my anticipation for this past weekend…it was everything and more. It is such a sobering privilege to serve weekly within a great church. As Harvest York Region continues to grow (not only in numbers, but in commitment and individually as believers) I find myself often overwhelmed with the opportunity it is each week to serve.

This past Sunday was no exception. Paul brought a great message with out series in Ephesians, and the people responded to both worship and the word. This week we did “Alleluia,” a hymn re-worked by Eddie Kirkland on his latest CD, “Orthodoxy.” It definitely added to the themes that we were trying to pull out of the text, and it was great to do a revamped hymn in the arrangement that he had used.

Here’s how it all went down;
