Special Sunday

I don’t know what it is, but there are just some Sunday’s that I get particularly excited about. After planning the service WAY ahead of schedule, I am STOKED about this Sunday’s set list, and am just praying that God will work in ways that I can’t even imagine!

This Sunday we are doing “Alleluia” by Eddie Kirkland. It’s off his recently released album “Orthodoxy” which I’ve been listening to A LOT since it’s release a little while ago.

Lots going on at Harvest York Region to be excited and thankful for, big days ahead!

Congrats Meredith

Today is the release of Meredith Andrew’s debut album with WORD Records entitled “The Invitation.” In the few tracks I’ve heard thus far (still have yet to give the whole album a good listening) it’s great, worth an itunes pick-up for sure!

Mayer or Brewster?

John Mayer and Lincoln Brewster are by FAR my two favorite guitar player’s that double as front-men for their respective bands. Obviously you’ve got legendary guitarists like “the edge” from U2 and mr. angus young from ACDC, but as far as frontman/lead guitarist guys go, these two are in my top books for both the secular and christian genres.

Check out the two videos below. Both show why they are as good as people say they are!

The Past 25 Hours.

W.O.W!

That’s all I can say. My head is still spinning. I am currently down at Harvest’s Annual ministry school “Harvest University.” This is my first one ever (i’ve always had exams in the way). This year I came down half way through (conference was Monday-

In the short time i’ve been here I have already learned a lot. The session that has stuck out so far was the one on song writing for the local church. Andi Rozier, Josh Caterer and Steve Busch lead it, and it was fantastic. Here are a few points I pulled from what Josh said.

5 Principles for Great Song Writing

1)Stick to the Scripture
a.Write with your Bible open

2)Aim for the Bull’s-eye
a.What is this song about?
b.Pick a specific part of scripture

3)Don’t Dumb it Down
a.Importance of thinking things out
b.Don’t settle for the ‘off-the-cuff lyric
c.Writing good songs take purpose-filled time
d.That said, don’t be ‘unnecessarily flashy’

4)Study the Classics
a.Important in all forms of song-writing

5)Depend on the Spirit
a.No matter how good of a song writer you are, without the Spirit you got nothing

Confident that the next 25 hours will be filled with continued growth!

The Gospel.

It’s about time a Christian leader stood up on a media platform and told the truth of Jesus Christ.

This isn’t a recent interview, but still fantastic!

Especially in light of the recent American Idol hub-bub, THIS is an example of getting the truth of Jesus Christ into mainstream media, not secular artists singing “Shout to the Lord.”

I'm a Wannabe

Lessons Learned: Recently someone outside my circle of acquaintances found my blog and left his opinion that I was a “wannabe” of a mutual friend. My initial reaction (in the flesh) was to find out where this guy lives and stalk him for a few weeks, just to see how “perfect” his little life was….But then, there it was again, the Bible, shouting at me: 1 Corinthians 11:1 Be imitators of me, as I am of Christ. Now, don’t get me wrong, I love my Bible, but sometimes it says stuff I’m not ready for. You see, I am a wannabe. I wannabe like Jesus, I wannabe like Paul and to the extent that any brother or sister in Christ is honouring and glorifying Christ, I wannabe like them too. My initial thought was wrong again, my second response, “imitation is the strongest form of flattery” wrong again. “Be imitators of me, as I am of Christ” RIGHT!

So, I am looking for some lyrics now….I wannabe be like Jesus, I am a wannabe, rhyming wannabe, need help here! If you need me, I am sitting outside this guys house with my binnocks, ugly drapes man….

i have a problem

like many men and women before me, i have a bad habit that often leaves me in a bind…i chew the end of my pens. i go through pens quickly because one of two things happens;

1) i bite on the pen for so long that the end gets bent, in turn clogging the ink tube, preventing ink from circulating

2) excess saliva gets stuck within the pen itself, diluting the ink and in turn leaving the pen useless.

i have yet to come up with a solution other than the obvious one (which is to stop biting my pens). until a super-human strength, bite-able pen comes on the market, I will continue to go through pens like they’re going out of style.
